Last Friday talented Filipa (winner of cooking competition show "3,2,1 Kuhaj!") organized a secret dinner party for bloggers and people of similar interests. We were greeted by Petra (cousin of Filipa and her partner in that show) at main square, and went to a secret destination. Ambience was arranged with much care and imagination, a paradise for the eyes. Most of us there have met for first time, but bonded immediately.
This is how my boyfriend (also a Blue Turpentine blog main photographer) describes whole dinner:
*Cold appetizer - Everyone that loves the homemade pate would enjoy this exquisite snack. The sweet taste of onion jam is great in this salty snack, a slip of baby spinach is not only beautiful decoration but also gives freshness. And all beautifully arranged on a crispy toast.
*Soup - This was my first time to eat pumpkin cream soup, which in combination with pear has delicious taste. Fried bacon cubes are a great addition to almost every meal. With every mouthful there was pleasant surprise in form of crispy caramelized popcorn, unusual, but tasty!
*Main course - This was the main enigma before we tried it. We found out that the host cooked tail almost eight hours and removed every bone out. Courtesy to the Chef for patience and effort. Meat was served with a nice sauce on a puree of Jerusalem artichokes and fresh horseradish. I liked it so much that I had to ask for seconds!
*Dessert - For dessert there were two cakes listed in menu and one surprise. Chocolate "Snickers" cake tasted like Oreo cookies to me, with glass of milk it would be perfect. Many have agreed that it is quite heavy, but still delicious enough that no one left even one bit of it on a plate Carrot-pumpkin cake surprised me, healthy and delicious. It was light. Fresh cream cheese and vanilla make it even more refreshing. Definitely something I need to find a recipe for, perfectly matches after a heavy meal. Sweet surprise was banana cake, of which I am a big fan. The flavor of biscuit was like a marble cake, in combination with the cream of bananas. On the first hand it looks quite simple, but flavor is amazing!
